Nile Academy is Now a Part of the TDCAA!
Nile Academy High School teams are now members of the Toronto District Catholic (Colleges) Athletic Association (TDCAA), which is a member association of the OFSAA.
The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) is an organization of student-athletes, teacher-coaches, student-coaches, teachers, principals, and sport administrators in Ontario, Canada. OFSAA is the second largest high school athletic association in North America, second only to the California Interscholastic Federation.
Approximately 270,000 students and 16,000 teacher-coaches participate in school sport in Ontario. Every individual who is involved in school sport is a member of OFSAA. The group’s primary responsibility is to work with volunteer teacher- coaches to provide provincial championships for Ontario’s student-athletes, and also deal with issues that affect students, coaches, schools and communities, such as drug-free sport, equity, fair play, and safe schools.
As with all of Canada’s provincial high school athletics associations, the OFSAA is an affiliate member of the United States-based National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
Nile Academy Athletic Programs
Nile Academy offers a wide array of athletic programs to its students. Our focus is an education of the mind and the body. Our gym teachers and coaches help our students compete and win at sports competitions all over Canada.
Our boys wrestling team is a testament to this claim. Under the guidance of the helmsman, coach and gym teacher, Mr. Yasin Kaya our wrestling team is reaching new heights and breaking old records.
We have also recently started a rigorous soccer program here at Nile. Our team works extremely hard, and puts in many hours of practice no matter the weather forecast. The soccer team is lead by its trusted coaches, Mr. Dogan and Mr. Farell.
Under the auspices of an excellent and well-renowned coach, Nile Academy Taekwondo has also taken off. The team will be busy competing at many upcoming tournaments throughout the year. In the past, the team won many gold metals, and recieved the Best School Award.
Nile Academy Basketball is another exciting avenue open to our students. Students are encouraged to take part in as many extra-curricular activities as they want to granted that they do not have an adverse effect on their academics.
