Elementary School

Primary School (KG – 8)

Children at Nile Academy experience a learning environment which is warm, creative and engaging.  Children’s first steps in a lifelong education are fostered and celebrated.  At Nile Academy, children are encouraged to discover their emerging capabilities and achievements. Our teaching staff is dedicated to nurturing their students’ individual needs in an accommodated atmosphere where they can grow emotionally, socially and academically – freely at their own learning pace.
Our Early Years Program encourages children to develop a love of learning by exploring, observing, listening and experimenting.  The pursuit of creativity as well as academic excellence is highly valued in the early years.
The significant changes that occur in students during the junior and intermediate years are recognized and catered for in our learning and teaching programs.  Students begin to grow towards independence as their natural attributes of having a thirst and curiosity for knowledge and eagerness to learn are supported and commended.  They are encouraged to accept increasing responsibility for their behaviours, work and participation in active learning.  In addition, students are also guided by Pastoral Care Mentors who support the healthy social development of each child.
Specialist educators teach our comprehensive curriculum in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, Religious Studies, Physical Education, Music and Visual Arts.
Early identification of students with special needs is a high priority, and such students are nominated for support where applicable.Support programs are conducted for individual students who need extension or acceleration in various key learning areas; remedial sessions in English and Mathematics; a Reading Recovery program; and specialist support for ESL students.
Supplementary extra-curricular and enrichment programs include: camping and excursions, Robotics, Digital Photography, Chess, Fine Art, Fire Education, National Competitions, Choir, Traditional Folkdance, and End of Year concert.  Also, a variety of planned excursions and incursions help children to form the vital link between their learning and the world outside the school grounds.
We are proud of the quality of the total educational environment available to our primary children.  The dedication and care shown by our staff, coupled with an exceptionally high level of support from enthusiastic parents in all aspects of schooling remains central to our success.
