At Nile Academy, our Orange Shirt Day Assembly brought our school community together to reflect on the importance of remembrance, respect, and reconciliation. Through this meaningful gathering, our students and staff had an opportunity to learn about the history and legacy of residential schools in Canada, honour the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and communities, and recognize the lasting impact on survivors, families, and future generations.
Orange Shirt Day reminds us that every child matters and that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, respected, and included. By learning about the past and listening to Indigenous voices, we help our students develop empathy, understanding, and a stronger sense of responsibility toward building a more inclusive future.
